How to run a Taiwan patent search
- If you have a number: enter it directly (for example I524707 or M336930) to retrieve the published record and legal status.
- If you only have an idea: describe the essential components, the main action, and the technical effect you want to improve; the tool converts that into search conditions.
- For more precision: switch to Boolean conditions, or add an IPC class and a date range to narrow the result set.
- Open a result to review the abstract, applicant, and legal status, then discuss patentability or design-around options with a professional.

How do I search Taiwan patents, and which database does this tool query?
Enter a patent number, keywords, or a technical description in the field above. The tool queries the public patent search service of the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO), covering published and granted invention, utility model, and design patents.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
It is free and requires no sign-up or login. The tool creates no account and keeps no search history; each query is processed for that request only and sent to TIPO to retrieve public data.
How far back does this tool cover?
The online search covers invention, utility model, and design patents published or granted over roughly the past decade or so. Older cases are not in the online index; if you enter such a number the tool says so explicitly. For those, use the official TIPO search or contact WISECODE and we can retrieve the record for you.
Why does a search sometimes time out?
Broad multi-concept queries are slow on the official search service, and this service enforces a time limit. If you hit it, reduce the number of concepts or add a date range or IPC class and search again.
If I find nothing similar, does that mean my technology is patentable?
No. A quick online search is limited in both coverage and strategy, so finding nothing is not proof that nothing exists. Patentability also depends on inventive step, foreign prior art, and earlier applications that are not yet published. A formal assessment still needs a professional search and analysis.
Is my query stored or reused?
No. The tool keeps no search history and does not send your input to third-party analytics. The server uses it only while handling that request and to retrieve public data from TIPO.
